This my constantly evolving election mix which has existed in some form or other since 1996. Music about elections, choices, revolutions, common people and the promise of another four years of silly government.
It’s great to have an opportunity to color and doodle. Last year, there was play dough on the tables, so I ended up with claymation in a collection called Space Sketches. This year, I tried to keep all the artwork in square boxes. Most of the pieces are repetitive patterns using colored pen. By the second day, I decided to push the boundary of squares, and put squares in squares, and try some three dimensional art using post-it notes, pens, paper, and shadows. Finally there are a few photos of found art: the outside, the books and the peeps.

Because it’s a great idea.
On June 23, 2015, a serious thunderstorm hit Philadelphia. The storm passed just as the sun was setting. The last rays of sunshine projected horizontally between the earth and the clouds, and made everything look beautiful. Photographers call this time “The Golden Hour.” Our attempts to turn this wonder into art became contagious, and the more pictures we took, the more we noticed other people taking pictures.

My favorite mix making software is on an old computer. There’s no new version of the software so I need to put up with an old, slow, weak-kneed computer that suffers from occasional seizures. Exporting a finished mix should take about 2 minutes. Last night it took half an hour to export 20%. Instead of waiting, I decided to let the computer take it’s sweet time, and just grab the USB drive in the morning.
So here I am on the trolley, and I reach into my shirt pocket and the USB drive isn’t there! WTF?
Then I remembered that I spilled coffee on my shirt this morning and made a quick change for an identical shirt.
Guess I’ll listen to the mix when I get home tonight.
At least my shirt is clean.
Last year we had our first toddler seder, which mostly consisted of toddlers eating cream cheese on matza. This year we challenged ourselves to make a more engaging seder that actually tells the story. Continue reading
